Thames Valley Financial Capability forum exists to help people develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to avoid financial crisis.
One of 15 regional forums across England and Wales supported by Citizens Advice, the Thames Valley Financial Capability Forum has played a key role in the Financial Skills for Life (FSfL) programme since 2007.
What it does
The Thames Valley Financial Capability Forum brings together key local and national players from every sector of government and society. Participants support each other by sharing information and experience and the emphasis in all forums is on involving everyone with an interest in delivering or engaging with financial capability.
Covering Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, the forum meets quarterly at different locations around the area. Relevant information, news items, details of training courses and notification of funding opportunities is shared by email.
Meetings usually take place in the morning and end with a sandwich lunch which gives members an opportunity to meet each other and share experiences. Speakers are invited from relevant organisations so that members can find out what help is available to them and the people they work with. Meetings are also an opportunity to share information and resources, develop best practice and inform members of successes and developments. As an example, you can read the agenda of the last meeting.
Or find out more information about Financial Capability Forums on the Financial Skills for Life website.
Who it is for
The Forum is for those who have an interest in engaging with or delivering financial know-how. Current members work for, or belong to, a wide range of organisations including housing providers, credit unions, health services, local authorities, advice agencies and other voluntary sector groups. There is no charge to attend meetings or to join the Forum.
