Advice for those affected by cancer

Macmillan Cancer Care Partnership – benefits service

M_dark_RGB

This service, which is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, provides welfare benefits and debt advice to people affected by cancer and their families with the aim of maximising their income, reducing stress and anxiety and helping them through their diagnosis.

The service is for the whole of Berkshire, and operates out of the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading and, on one day each week, the Wexham Park Hospital in Slough. However patients accessing the service may have been treated in a range of clinical locations across Berkshire.

The service is very well integrated linking closely with the Macmillan Cancer Information Services at the Royal Berkshire and Wexham Park Hospitals, the site-specific cancer CNS team and the palliative care teams both in the community and within the acute Trust.

Access to the service is by referral from the relevant Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Advice helpline

A telephone service is available to those who have been affected by cancer but who may no longer be in treatment, are outside of the benefits service partnership or who have wider issues about which they are seeking help.

The dedicated number to call is 0845 071 6380 and the phone line is available on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon’s between the hours of 1pm and 4pm.
